REDUCING OUR IMPACT ON GLOBAL WARMING

Groupe Pochet aims to reduce its carbon footprint 20% by 2023. To meet this objective, we are working on three key factors:

• Reducing the energy consumption of our processes;

• Eco-designing the parts we produce;

• Reducing our consumption of fossil fuels in favor of renewable energies. Reconstructing

Furnace 5, a significantly reduced energy impact.

We decided to invest in reconstructing our Furnace 5 at the Pochet du Courval plant in Guimerville. Objective: to enhance performance and, thanks to new technologies and a new design, reduce our environmental impact. This new furnace allows us to substantially lower our energy consumption along with a 20% decrease in CO2 emissions. Other advantages include a more efficient burner system that reduces our nitrogen oxide emissions by 25% and an optimized ventilation system that saves 10% in electricity. In addition, the cooling water of the furnace will be 100% recycled.

The Pochet Group is stepping up its commitment, in particular with the implementation of a Decarbonization Plan.

REDUCED WATER CONSUMPTION

Our water consumption consists mainly of glass manufacturing at the Guimerville site and surface treatments at the Qualipac Aurillac and Qualipac Aluminium sites.

Guimerville site: substantial investments that are bearing fruit.

In the past, the site that used the most water was the Pochet du Courval site in Guimerville, where glass bottles are manufactured. Between 2014 and 2019, investments helped reduce our water consumption by more than 800,000 m3 per year, particularly on improving the closed loops of our furnaces.

Qualipac sites: continuous improvement in surface treatment

At Qualipac Aluminium, our aluminum manufacturing facility, water consumption has always been a point of concern. For this reason, since 2016, we invested in an innovative water treatment plant allowing us to reduce our annual water consumption by 10%.

A site of excellence, Qualipac Aurillac invested in a new electroplating line in 2018. The key to this was a 20% reduction in water use per unit of decorated surface.

OUR RESPONSIBLE DECORATIONS

Responsible decorations remain our priority. We deliver innovative solutions by reducing pollutants at the source: our sustainable galvanization, water-based or high solids varnishes, and the treatment of 100% of the Volatile Organic Compounds emissions resulting from the decorations.
